Knitting & Crochet Blog Week. Day The Second.

An Inspirational Pattern
Blog about a pattern or project which you aspire to. Whether it happens to be because the skills needed are ones which you have not yet acquired, or just because it seems like a huge undertaking of time and dedication, most people feel they still have something to aspire to in their craft. If you don’t feel like you have any left of the mountain of learning yet to climb, say so!

Pretty much all of my out-of-reach pattern aspirations are completely down to the yarn for which I simply don't have the money and resources. I want to make so many sweaters, coats, dresses, skirts, etc. But because of my financial situation, I pretty much only make 1-or-2-skein accessories. I want GARMENTS, dammit. The pinnacle of out-of-my-league, the thing that sums up my wistful need for knitting proper clothes, is this:

Can you imagine???
I couldn't even ever afford to do that in Red Heart, let alone the Blue Sky Alpaca Silk it deserves.

  1. You need to make that, and wear it FOREVER, because it is as fabulous as you are.

  2. That's just amazing - I have never seen it before and never seen the like!

Your small 1&2 skein project gallery has come about for exactly the same reason mine has - I'd love to knit full garments but simply could not afford to do so. OK, I have the added thing where I get bored super-easy, but that aside.

I am knitting a jumper for my Nan at the moment, as well as a jumper for myself - my first two. My own is some bargain yarn I bought, with some supplement skeins from yourself, and the other I am making out of stylecraft life (75% acrylic, 25% wool in huge 375m skeins which I can get for £1.75. I think it will take 3 or 4, so the jumper will come in at under £8, so only that way can I make something 'big'. Luckily it can block to some extent :op

  3. Oh, I feel you. My student budget doesn't allow for fancy pants yarn, but my LYS has a great "workhorse" section. That's the only reason I can afford to make sweaters!

And that outfit! Is it a dress or a skirt/top set? I'd never seen it before!
