Tabby Tuesday, my new favorite day.

In other news, my birthday is in one week. Plz to be celebrating me now, kthx. My inlaws got me tickets to go see Oliver! in London!!!! YAY!!! I was all about some Jodie during I'd Do Anything, so I am super pleased about this. I don't see the point of this blog anymore, honestly. Not that I really ever did.

Navel Gazing.

So, I got my hair cut today, just the sides of the 'hawk clippered down to 2, and about half an inch taken off each side of it to make it a little thinner. Textured on top a bit... nothing much.

I love it, as usual. The salon here is so cute and the girls are all really sweet.
So I got home and took a couple pictures of it.

After looking at them, I made Owen take a couple outside when we went to get some Cokes.

After looking at them I went upstairs and had a good look in the mirror.

I like what I see there, mostly. Aside from this fading pms breakout, I am fairly happy with what I see when I look in the mirror.
It's a shame there's never been a picture of me that looks like that.

So I got all gloomy and sat on the stairs for awhile and took some pictures straight on with no particular expression, trying to get what I see in the mirror.

One of them I made prettier with contrast.

One of them I didn't.

Neither of them looks like me. Or like what I see in the mirror. Something that has always kind of made me feel weird is that I really have no mental image of myself. I really, really don't. If called upon to make a picture of myself in my imagination, I can't. I do not know what I look like, inside. If that makes any sense. But pictures of me are so wildly different from how I actually see myself (in a proper, visual sense) and they make me feel like maybe I do have some subconscious picture of myself that I can't see (in an imaginary, mental-imagery sense) and I find that frustrating. I just wish I knew what I looked like. Really.

And to fulfill the promise of the subject line:
Complete with camera strap.

One of *THOSE* blog posts.

OMG IT'S ANOTHER HOUSEWIFE POSTING PICTURES OF HER CAT ON TEH INTARWEBS!!!!!

Suck on it.

This is Tessy chillaxing in the sun.

Tessy saying "WHAT? What're you doing? Mommy? I'm chillaxing."

"GO'WAY MOMMY."

Yeah, it's sideways. Suck on that, too. That's just how I roll.

So. Lately I have lost my crafting mojo. I've been doing a little bit here and there on various things. Rainbow acrylic things and nicer things and cable things and crochet things and new things and old things... But I haven't been able to stick to any one thing. I totally rocked the next LSG traveling scarf section, that was rad. I did OMG GOAT CABLES. So when I have my mojo back for a whole project, that's definitely getting worked into something for myself. I started crocheting my first sweater awhile ago, and thanks to Mimi I have the yarn for my first knitted one, but golly.... intimidated. Also I have some beautiful beads I won from Foxy Findings on Twitter, but yeah. Craft mojo gone-gone. Which sounds weird if you could actually see me lately as I am always knitting or crocheting or something, but I just can't stick to any one thing for too long and I can't bring myself to pull out any serious projects at the moment.
It could have something to do with a combo of upping the dosage of my antidepressants and the start of allergy season. I don't feel great, but nothing will actually break into proper sickness so I can get over it, you know?

Oooh, also I love Plurk.

I apologize for having NOTHING OF INTEREST to say. Really. I just felt I should say something over here. I don't even know.

So. Are Brad and Angelina breaking up? What do you think?

::crickets::

I did actually get a new wedding ring Friday. My original one has a bit of a sad saga, really.

We got married, had a gorgeous honeymoon roadtrip to the Grand Canyon, and then Owen had to go back to England, and I couldn't until my visa stuff got processed. It was the suckiest couple weeks ever, basically. A few days after he left, my BRAND NEW wedding ring lost a diamond. Little newlywed, all alone, living with her parents, husband on the other side of the world... and I have to take off my ring for another week or so while it gets repaired. IT IS VERY SAD. I had a necklace my dad's stepmom had given me when I was a little bitty girl that had a diamond of exactly the right size, so that was nice.

A year or so goes by, I'm ensconced safely and legally in England, and another diamond falls out. We totally got it fixed. It didn't cost very much, but it was no nicer not having my ring during the repair, so the day we took it in, we stopped at Claire's and got a little braided band with rhinestones as a place holder. It almost immediately turned my finger both green AND red, and also itchy. Sigh.

So nearly another year later, the last diamond fell out.

We took it back to the same jeweler that had replaced the second stone, and they said NOPE. Sorry, it's completely unfixable.
The ring itself had cracked the whole way up one side, all the way through at the setting where it was really thin. A write-off. Unless we somehow won the lottery and could get it melted down and reformed into a whole new ring. But that's for someday in the future when we're not po'.

So my wonderful husband took Friday off work and took me jewelry shopping. The first ring we looked at was the one. I knew this, he knew this, but we still trawled all over town just in case. It's much sturdier, and only has one stone that's set flush with the band. It's so pretty and will be better for me, as I am apparently DESTRUCTOR.

One of the things about the original was that it was way too big. We were gonna get it resized while it was being repaired. The engagement ring, which is just barely smaller, was holding it on. That didn't work so well with a wider band. I was really afraid my engagement ring would fall off, so for now they're upside down. I think the square settings look amazing together. I dunno, I'm really happy with it. And I have the most lovely husband ever.

We still haven't heard back from the IVF people. My GP gave me the number for a direct line to the fertility dude's secretary, so tomorrow I'm gonna call. It's out of his hands right now, though, but maybe he can give me an idea of who to contact next. So yeah. I really don't have much news. I haven't made anything, I'm not pregnant.... I'm doing some laundry and watching old episodes of Ellen. Owen's making us some burgers. Tess is back asleep upstairs in the sun after the molestation. Basically, it's Sunday afternoon as it should be.

Mr G

I would like to introduce Mr G:

That is (predictably) short for Mister Gorilla. Mr G is, in just about equal proportion to my husband and my kitty, the most important thing in my entire life. I've known him WAAAAY longer than either of those other guys combined. I found him at the circus when I was little, rubber banded to a stick, of all things. I rescued him and he has spent literally every night with me since. He's been all over the world with me (he does NOT travel in suitcases, he sits with me on planes and gets a seat of his own on road trips) and knows absolutely every secret I have ever had. He has a deep, gruff voice and can be rather surly at times. He's massively protective of me, and I wouldn't have married Owen if Mr G hadn't approved. He's put up with a lot, and known a lot of people. My family and friends and everybody I've dated have known him and understood his awesomeness. Sometimes he hits on my mom. They have a very special relationship, actually. She always tries to keep him when he visits her. Mr G might not want me telling this to the world, but I trust you. He is the head of the Gorilla Mafia and has a lock on the world's banana supply. He has.... well.... occasionally a bit of a drinking problem, but he's really a good guy. Every time I watch King Kong he watches with me, he even came to the theater with me to see the remake. We loved it. He's been to Rocky Horror with me many times of a Saturday midnight, and spends every Christmas morning and New Year's Eve with me, right in the thick of things. He's got a little New Year's hat he wears every year. He was the ring bearer at my wedding, he preceded me up the aisle with the best man, and he had a little satin ring pillow and everything. (Yes, he did come on the honeymoon. I said he spent every night with me, and I meant every night!) My in-laws know him and love him, too. He doesn't mind being used as a pillow sometimes, or even an armrest while I play my DS in bed, but his favorite thing on earth is to have his face between my boobs while I lay on my tummy to read. He is exceptionally comfortable. I've sewed up many owies on his arms and legs and my mommy gave him a nose job before the wedding. I often give him kisses on his nose and the original vinyl had worn away to flakes, so she sewed him a lovely soft leather nose that is supremely smoochable. He likes the ladies A LOT, but sometimes when he's had a bit to drink he can hit on anything nearby. Since I learned to knit nearly a decade ago, I have been promising him the bright orange overalls he wants so bad, I think I may have finally developed enough skillz to confidently attempt this sometime soon. Mr G is what I would grab if the house was on fire and I love him with everything I have in me.

Twitter is evil.

Today I have had the changes-from-the-book/ending of the Watchmen movie *AND* the season of America's Next Top Model that is currently on in the UK spoiled for me via Twitter.
I am deeply, deeply upset about this.
People need to think.

Also I got my second LSG traveling scarf.
I used a pattern from my new book which I was LSG-RAK-ed, Ocean Breezes: Knitted Scarves Inspired by the Sea. Is called Mermaid Mesh, and I love it madly and want to make a whole scarf of it sometime, but the yarn I used is a tail-end of one ball I had and is so nice that I am spoiled and wouldn't like the pattern in anything crappy, which is all I actually have.

I'm also doing another one from that book just for myself called Ocean Currents. It's also incredibly gorgeous and looks nice in cheap yarn, which is a TOTAL plus.
